Marie-Annick's Life Story
ABOUT ME
I am an entrepreneur, coach, Buddhist master, and writer. My coaching mission leads me to collaborate with numerous individuals and businesses across the health, wellness, education, culinary, and farming sectors. Over the past twenty-four years, I have appeared in various media, won awards, and received wonderful testimonials. My clients told me, they appreciate my calmness, wisdom, warmth, sincerity, and ability to bring long-lasting changes to their lives.
Raised in a paradisiacal neighborhood of the Eiffel Tower, my childhood was marked by challenges. Dyslexia, sexual assault, abusive teachers, bullying, and the loss of my best friend by suicide brought me to a rebellious place. With sports, family support, and a Vietnamese Zen Master's help, I embraced resilience and pursued personal growth. I must say here that, I enjoyed studying under Master Nguyen Tien for decades. Near his death, I promised him to share the teachings that changed my life.
After hard work, I ultimately became the French and European Table Tennis champion. I coached clubs and youth programs. I then worked in the steel industry in sales, before seizing a professional opportunity that brought me to southern California. In March of 1985, I arrived in Anaheim to work for Metalimphy, Inc. as an import-export manager. A year later, I met my future husband. We got married and had a son. While the job was great, it was not what I deeply desired. I returned to coaching tennis and table tennis. Unfortunately, my sporting career ended abruptly after a surgery of two herniated discs. Back in school, I studied culinary arts and dietetics. I worked at various restaurants to learn the trade. I became a chef and while working at Paris Bistro (San Diego), my team prepared healthy lunches for the Miss America Teens' Competition. To spend more time with my young son, I decided to work as a personal chef and teach Century Business College culinary students. I developed enough business to make up for my previous job.
The serious weight problem of children and their suffering became a new focus. I worked part-time in kitchen schools to understand the American diet. A work accident (broken ankle and tibia) and severe allergies ended my chef career. Reducing people's suffering and mine became the catalyst of a new venture. Early January 2000, I launched my wellness coaching business. I developed and introduced "The Healthy Chef Certificate Program". My work was then utilized to promote healthy eating in numerous industries. I taught in colleges and high schools. I volunteered to launch the "Cooking Up Change" high school cooking competition. My team, Santa Ana High School, secured the first regional and national titles. Staying informed, I passed a few certification courses on health and nutrition. They confirmed what I know all along, the critical relationship between sound nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, physical activity, and psychological well-being. Renowned scientist Apostolos Pappas and I collaborated on a comprehensive healthy weight loss program, which we published as "The Saint-Tropez Diet" in 2006. The book was in the celebrities gift bags and was the inspiration for Oscar healthy menu prepared by Wolfang Puck. Subsequently, I authored fourteen books under the "Cooking Well" series to assist my clients in managing better their diseases and health. I collaborated with other writers, institutions, teaching programs, food manufacturers, restaurants, and farmers. While my mission has slightly changed over the years; reducing suffering, enhancing well-being, promoting fortitude and fostering responsibility remain my main goals today. Coaching is my passion, and bringing positive change to people's lives brings me immense joy. Assisting others is my way of expressing gratitude, as I have been fortunate to receive much kindness throughout my life.
